StoreLens: Storefront & Catalog Analyzer Privacy Policy

Last updated:

The short version

StoreLens has no account, no signup, no analytics, no telemetry and no tracking of any kind. It does not collect personal information, does not build a profile of you, and sells nothing to anyone.

Who operates this extension

StoreLens is developed and operated by Vishal Chopde, an independent software developer trading as vishalchopde.com.

What StoreLens collects

No personal or sensitive user data. Specifically, StoreLens does not collect, transmit, or have access to any of the following:

  • Your name, email address, age, or any identifying information
  • Your browsing history, bookmarks, or open tab list
  • Passwords, credentials, cookies, or form input
  • Location, health, financial, or payment information
  • Page content on any site you have not explicitly approved
  • Keystrokes, clicks, mouse movement, or any behavioural analytics

There is no analytics SDK, no error-reporting service, no advertising network, and no third-party script of any kind bundled in this extension.

What leaves your browser

Exactly two categories of network request, and nothing else.

First, requests to the storefront you choose to analyze. When you press Run Analysis, StoreLens requests publicly accessible pages from that store's own domain: its homepage, its public product feed, and its best-selling collection page. These are the same public URLs your browser would load if you typed them in yourself. Every one of those requests is sent with credentials omitted, meaning your cookies and session are deliberately excluded. No information about you is attached.

Second, licence verification to Gumroad. If you have entered a paid licence key, that key is sent to api.gumroad.com so Gumroad can confirm the purchase is active. This happens once when you activate, then at most once every 24 hours. Your licence key is the only value transmitted. Free users never trigger this request at all.

What is stored on your device

Two things, held in Chrome's local extension storage on your machine only, and never uploaded anywhere:

  • Your licence key and the timestamps of its last verification, so paid features stay available without re-entering the key, and survive a short offline period
  • A daily counter of how many analyses you have run, so the free tier limit can be enforced

Analysis results live in memory for the panel you are looking at, and in any CSV you choose to save to your own computer. Uninstalling StoreLens deletes everything it stored. There is no server-side copy to request or erase.

Permissions and why each one exists

Permissions requested by StoreLens, and the reason for each one
PermissionWhy it is needed
storageHolds your licence key and a daily counter of how many analyses you have run, so paid features stay available between sessions and the free tier limit can be enforced. Stored on your machine only.
sidePanelRenders the interface in Chrome's side panel. This is the only screen StoreLens has.
tabsReads the URL of the tab you are currently viewing, so the panel can show which storefront it would analyze and update that display when you switch or navigate tabs. Tab contents are never read, and no URL is ever sent anywhere.
https://api.gumroad.com/*Verifies a paid licence key against Gumroad. Only the key is sent. This request is never made on the free tier.
https://*/* (optional)Declared as optional, never required. StoreLens asks for access to exactly one domain at the moment you press Run Analysis, and only the domain you are already on. Nothing is requested at install time, and you can revoke any granted domain at chrome://extensions.

Data sharing and sale

StoreLens does not sell, rent, trade, or transfer user data to any third party. Data is never transferred for creditworthiness, lending, advertising, or any purpose unrelated to the extension's single stated function. The only outbound transmission is the licence key to Gumroad, described above, which exists solely to validate a purchase. Payment itself is taken by Gumroad, not by me, and I never see or store your card details.

Compliance with Chrome Web Store policy

StoreLens's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data handling is limited to the extension's single purpose of analyzing publicly available storefront information.

Children

StoreLens is a business research tool intended for users aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version is posted at this URL with a revised date above, and the change is noted in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
